Germany Connects Inspiring Landscapes
and Cities with high-speed Rail Service

Germany has an enviable location smack-dab in the center of the Continent, offering comprehensive rail links to most other major European nations. Within Germany, travel by train is a snap, due to one of the world’s most efficient and speedy—though by no means least expensive—rail networks. These networks crisscross a multitude of inspiring landscapes, from Alpine peaks to low-lying coastal plains, from dense forests to river valleys, passing hillside vineyards, craggy bluffs topped by medieval castles, and other scenes straight from the fairy tales.

Germany’s cities beckon, too, even though many of them, on the surface at least, share a similar trait of bland modernity—they were blown to bits during World War II bombings and rebuilt in haste in the postwar period. But throughout Germany an impressive array of the finest of the lost architectural and cultural treasures has been re-created. In many smaller towns that were spared the hard hand of war, historic cores of astonishing harmony and beauty seduce travelers just as they have for centuries. In short, Germany is both an easy and a fascinating stop on any rail traveler’s journey though Europe.
